Gordon Castle Scotland
Gordon Castle is located in the village of Fochabers on the banks of the River Spey in Moray. Home to one of the oldest and largest kitchen gardens in Britain, Gordon Castle offers a unique blend of heritage, hospitality, and horticulture. Visitors can explore the historic grounds, enjoy a wide range of locally sourced meals in our café—including quality coffee, homemade sandwiches, and cakes—and browse our shops for garden-grown produce, homeware, and our renowned Walled Garden Gin. The estate also features a children’s play area, making it a perfect day out for the whole family.

The Walled Garden Project
Built over 200 years ago, the Walled Garden at Gordon Castle was originally designed to meet the demands of the Duke of Gordon for fresh, seasonal produce. In its heyday, the head gardener and chef worked in tandem to deliver an abundance of fruit, vegetables, herbs, and flowers to the Duke’s table. Today, that same collaboration lives on—though now the fruits of our labour are shared with visitors from near and far, who can enjoy the garden's bounty in our café and shop.

A Hidden Gem
Spanning nearly eight acres, our Walled Garden is both a living tribute to its historic roots and a beacon of modern design, lovingly restored by renowned garden designer Arne Maynard. A peaceful retreat and a vibrant working garden, it bursts with colour, fragrance, and life throughout the seasons. Tended by a small team of passionate gardeners, the garden is as productive as it is beautiful—growing an impressive variety of herbs, cut flowers, fruits, and vegetables within its ancient walls.
